I don't understand what the delay is and why there should even be this delay given the 50/50 split situation, nothing changes. Why should copmpetition approval take this long? The deal was announced on Nov 28th, we are now February 20th with not one peep. In addition to the discount we've lost one dividend payment and about to lose another in 3 weeks when Bell goes ex-dividend on March 12th. I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist but my suspisions are that by delaying to the end of March saves BCE millions in addition dividend payments.

Contrast this deal to Tim Horton/Burger King, announced end of August 26th and by December 12th 2 elephants in a deal worth 20 times larger were already combined and married. One could also argue that the Tims deal was much more important in terms of govt approval than GLN/Bell/Rogers deal. This 'delay' is seriously starting to get on my nerves
