Renewable potential stored

Renewable potential storedOntario is getting the ball rolling, showing courage and setting the stage for proper renewable energy solutions, not just in Canada but worldwide. IESO has chosen 5 companies to pilot 12 technologies for renewable energy storage. Advanced batteries, hydrogen (via electrolysis), flywheel, balloon, etc. My favorite is the flywheel. Able to store & release energy almost instantaneously to balance a grid. Double the efficiency of coal/gas generators, and its an old technology. Flywheels actually absorb from the grid, store the energy, returning it when demand peaks. New York has had one since 2011 or 2012? There are 3 or more in the U.S. Ireland is putting one in with potentially unlimited storage capability. And this balloon storage is brilliant. In Lake Ontario 70m down, old fabric balloons like the kind used for lifting shipwrecks, store compressed air. When required, the compressed air is released to drive a generator on land. Aruba has contracted one to accompany a wind farm. It is excellent for islands as they have limited land space but lots of water space. Sure there are growing pains in Ontario, but the bottom line is. Good for you! The air in Toronto is 5 times cleaner that the air in Edmonton. Well done Ontario! So when someone tells you renewable energy is limited, turn your back. If someone wants to use their democratic vote, to support the tar sands, with the 2nd largest dam in the world just to hold toxic water, land peeled of life like it was an orange, polluting the air, and contributing to science backed climate change; well thats their right. But dont lie and discount renewables just because you want to hold on to that way of life. Its unbecoming. Tesla & Facebook are heroes, pioneers using their power for betterment. Alterra needs to partner with storage solutions providers and offer packages. Geothermal is my least favorite, as a few are looking into it changing the temperature of creeks etc. causing trouble in the ecosystem. I do not know if this is true, and those looking into it dont know, but it does take heat from the ground? Wind and solar, thats where its at.
