This could also just a message to the market " look at me I am. Cheap" a way to grasp some attention  seems to be working up almost 5% since announcement

Squeezing out the short traders

That's the play here.  The shorts will disappear with $250 million floor to deploy at 37 a share.  No pint shorting Stelco now.  That's almost 7 million shares worth of cushion. ...more

Don't think they really want to buy any shares back with modified Dutch auction.  I don't blame them.  Last time they bought back stock was around 45 or so and now 37 so clearly it ...more

The max you could get is 37 Canadian dollars when the price at close yesterday was above that.
