RE:RE:RE:New Press Release - ARTIS REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT TRUST ANNOUNCES UNCONDITIONAL SALE OF EIGHT CANADIAN RETAIL PROPERTIES

Este and DZ,

With respect to the question of how proceeds will be used:
"Proceeds from the transaction will be used to reduce overall debt."

Do we not trust Samir's word via PR?

I have long advocated for repaying floating debt via asset sales... I expect the buybacks of common and preferred units to ramp back up to maximum daily amounts (prefs based on public market volume). I believe the timing of this PR is no accident. I believe this was released at the exact moment Artis begins publicly disclosing buybacks. Without this news, the buybacks seem reckless - with this news, the buybacks feel like a signalling of power.

With future sales all but promised - the actual question should be - after selling another $200M+... THEN what is Samir going to do with the proceeds... It feels like a SIB is imminent... and after another $200M of sales, I believe doing so would be a masterstroke.
