Oil knee jerk

So much for market catching a bid manana. Hopefully an over reaction, but its a shoot first ask questions later environment, literally. Think we really would have had a nice little rally off that strong reversal on Friday. Oh the politics of war and oil!

REITS tend to perform well in global events as they are domestic vehicles that are more insulated...however surging crude prices can and will be reflected in inflation numbers over time.   I think there should be a lot of support for CAD reits XRE in the $14's as that was the bottom even during the first 6 lockdown months.

I believe the U.S. bond market will be closed today (Columbus Day). Not sure if you are speaking of futures. Wouldn't be overly surprising bonds would go lower though as a safety trade. My U.S. reits are implying a smallish drop for open.

Nice move down in European bond yields today. Dutch 5 year back under 3%, down 0.25% in the past month - good for ERE.UN. May it continue.

It would make sense and probably a likelihood US. yeilds go down tomorrow. There will probably be a fair bit of noise here in the next while. While this would theoretically be beneficial for reits in the near term, it may however be deemed inflationary by the talking heads, que the higher for longer rhetoric. Interesting tug of war.
