Cough... Cough....

So much for " no need to invest in a dying sector" rhetoric:

Oil Will Still Dominate The U.S. Energy Market In 2050

  • While the energy transition is undoubtedly underway, the EIA believes oil and gas will continue to dominate the U.S. energy mix in 2050 as population and economic growth boost energy demand.
  • Electric vehicles are expected to become more popular in the coming decades but gasoline cars will still make up 79 percent of sales in 2050.
  • U.S. crude production is expected to reach a record high in 2023 due to soaring oil prices and natural gas production will also increase as demand for exports grows.

I'm not sure about this article, it's great news if you're in energy stocks but how can anyone know what's going to be in the year 2050? They state that ICE vehicles will be 79% of the market? How could this be when everyone is changing over to EV by 2030-2035 or sooner?

[/quote] Well Wildfury , show me ANY company that can manufacture 100,000 EV batteries let alone millions in one year . Show me ONE jurisdiction that has the grid capacity to support this EV dream let alone produce that amount of emission free electricity . This eco arguement reminds me of cheerleaders showing up on Thursday when the game doesn't start until noon on Sunday . Some people will ...more

Listen Topdown, I'm only saying that the auto industry has already stated that they're going all electric and they won't be producing gasoline powered vehicles. How can they make statements that ICE vehicles will make up 79% of production in the year 2050, really? Don't tell me how they will be able to produce 100,000 batteries or millions for that matter. Haven't you heard the ...more

WOW , someone decided to take the nuclear option rather than diplomacy , don't expect me to join you . I have always found when the insults start , the arguement has already been won . I never accused you of being an eco cheerleader but if your reading comprehension brought you to that conclusion well so be it . Look around , do you see anyone (other than Tesla) offering an EV for sale today  ...more

This is the third post that you and your pals reposted what I said. I never went nuclear or insulted you DH, you obviously are always right and insulted my remarks on how anyone could possibly know what's it going to be in 2050 or next week, nobody knows. You are an expert in oil & gas, in EVs, and Battery production too. You are nobody, you think you're praised, by whom? You think ...more

WTF is the problem here ? This is just business and you are taking it all very personally Wildfury (you are so ferocious) . I have a decent education and above average experience in the O&G industry but most important , I ask questions and have common sense . You're the one who chose to get all whiny and pissy when you couldn't cause a stampede toward the chicken coop , not us . In the ...more

A gun fight? Butter knife? Yes your education is really showing. You ask questions? To your crystal ball that gave you all your wisdom in the year 2050 right. You should change your handle to Biff2050, from back to the future since you've been there. Where are your facts idiot? You're nobody, just another anonymous person posting on this message board. I'm ferocious, whiny? You talk ...more

Guys no need to get all rattled up. FYI that 79% number is from the IEA.  I think that they might know something about EV vs ICE. It doesn't mean that they will be right. My comment was purely based on what that 1 article stated. Relax mates. It's all good. Mas

About the danger of batteries, just go on the web and write  electric car burned and get in fire  and you will have a lot of case with the electric car  and the batteries in fire in the parking place, in the street and in  your own parking home and this is just the peak of the iceberg with electric car problems, just wait in few years, the technology  is in the beginning ...more

" a group 1 metal that melts easily and will burst into flame when heated and exposed to atmosphere " And on that note - last week there was a news release about a vast LG EV battery recall due to the batteries causing fires.  mugs

you mean here in Canada? I think things will obviously increase wrt to moving towards ev. but as things currently stand the manufacturers can't manufacture enough, there's a massive massive lack of charging infrastructure, it'll create a huge draw on the electrical grid and they'll have to figure out to replace the revenue from fuel taxes in an equitable way. That last point is a ...more

How does everybody change to EV by 2030-35? In Ontario, our present electrical grid can support those that have purchased ev vehicules.  What happens IF this adopted by the majority?  Where will the electricity come from? Assuming that they will build some electrical infra structure, that will take many years before they become operational and at the moment no expansion is planned. Do ...more

Hey mugs , I think the only reason Pierre P would be pushing east coast production is that he doesn't have to mention a "pipeline" but deep water drilling is a disaster waiting to happen . The west has the solution , all we need is some balls and logic in Ottawa to cut the red tape . Give the west a green light and supply will ramp up quicker than you can say $0.90/liter ...more
