Looking Down The Road

In the past there has been some crystal ball gazing and some discussion about how the business of EXRO will grow and how many industries their technology will serve.  Today, the two most obvious are the EV manufacturing industry and the Energy Storage industry.  It doesn't take too much imagination to come up with some others as well.

JohnnyUtah you have often said and implied that perhaps the energy storage side of EXRO's business could or should be the first to have a material impact on revenue and earnings, the low hanging fruit as you describe it.

Now I understand why EXRO has partnered with Re:Build to produce their integrated ESS hardware.  The greatest reason being to dodge the capital requirements to set up a manufacturing shop to actually make the units but I am somewhat concerned about the impact this decision may have on the future of the this side of EXRO's business.  Particularly in the event they wished to some day spin it off as a separate company.  It seems to me that the relationship with Re:Build may complicate that effort and perhaps take away some of the upside for EXRO in that eventuality.

Has anyone considered what we may have given away to Re:Build with this deal?  Certainly this deal gives EXRO some immediate benefit but I think Re;Build is playing the long game and are looking more than 5 years down the road.  Have we lost the ability to spin this business out of EXRO or have we just diluted the potential financial benefit in that event?  It's something to think about.

I'd like to think that if we own the IP we remain in the driver's seat.  That's just a random thought on this Friday morning.

PS:  I don't deal in FUD.  I am as big a proponent of this company as anyone.  If you don't wish me to share my thoughts on such subjects just say so and I will cease and desist.  There's no need to break out the flame throwers.

thefourth,  As usual, these press releases tell us just enough to more nervous than excited and thus the markets reaction or lack thereof. I don't foresee any M&A activity pertaining to this part of EXRO during that period simply because the numbers aren't there yet. One reason for that is US energy industry isn't really sure where they are going to get the electricity to ...more

You make some very good points SIMPLICITI1 which gives me even more food for thought.  I guess the only way to get answers about the reciprocity of the exclusivity in the agreement would be to pose the question to someone that rarely replies to my queries. regards thefourth

Think about how silly the notion is that Exro signed a deal where ReBuild is the exclussive builder to Exro but has the liberty to Build other ESS... which are they going to prioritize?Thats a potential death knell for Exro as they give up control to someone!  Exro would never sign a deal like that.... it's low resolution thinking...  quit wasting your time thinking up silly ...more

Exronly,  You continue to exhibit the intellect of a moron. My point was the press release failed to make that EXPLICITLY clear and more importantly left out many of the important terms pertaining to said "exclusivity" you know... .like how it is imaintained! I can assure you that the number of clauses pertaining to exclusivity cover several pages so what you read in this press ...more

Speaking of Playint rhe long game Sue Ozdemir is a master at that.  When she came on board with Exro she had a 5 year plan to roll out the tech.  she thinks  I'm 5-10 year blocks... the deal with ReBuild is for five years.  we have not been told much else, but none can only imagine how it was structured at this level.  these are Not simpleton negotiators with ...more

Exronly, you speak in absolute terms that I am not comfortable with.  Unless you know Sue better than everyone, you really don't know how she thinks.  Unless you are an insider you don't know the competence level of the negotiators that crafted the agreement nor do you know anything about Darrell's competence unless you are his supervisor. finest regards theforth

The Fourth.... Believe what you wish.   If you too had met with and spoken to DB in person you'd know of what I speak...  Sue  the other hand is super and why I speak highly of her.  She is a tech developing genius and to be one, thinking long term is a mandatory (not optional so of course she thinks long term) to short change her negotiating skills and long term thinking ...more

Exronly, again you make unfounded assumptions and assertions.  You assume I have never met Mr Bishop nor Ms Ozdemir.  You also go on to say I doubt her abilities, which couldn't be further from the truth my friend.  I am glad to hear you have had some experience in business since my impression was that your experience was politics and how to control the narrative. With respect ...more

4th   This isn't about you or I...  it's about Exro... you doubted Exro's ability to make a deal satisfactory to your criteria and I tried to make the case as to why the doubt was not needed.   You challanged my assertions on Darrell's ability and I tried to give you a tiny insight as to why I doubt his abilities without giving you all the information I know, how I ...more

Exronly, Posters like you are the bane of any bulletin board. You post assertions without factual back up. You besmirch the reputation of management  AGAIN without factual relevance. And when challenged you claim a friend of a friend of a friend with first hand knowledge.....yada yada yada. Why post that nonsense? And finally when you realize you haven't got a legitimate response you ...more

I will say right off the top that I am very pleased with this arrangment with Re:Build. From all reports, they are a first class organization.  Further, there can be no questioning the fact that Exro absolutely had to partner up with a manufacturing partner to bring the Cell Driver to scale.  What is not clear to me, and I have highlighted certain provisions below, is exactly what is ...more

Beaner Two things...  remeber Sue worked for GE for many years negotiating exactly these types of contracts... to make it as a business Exro MUST make a profit.  The Manifacturer needs to make 30% to keep afloat and tries hard to make 40%.  Exro can make less as they have no risk or major expenses and they dont have the cost of carrying the capital (lost opportunity cost) so Exro ...more
