Conflict between Laurentian and National

This article appeared in "La Presse" on June 5, 2021. Laurentian alleges that National enticed seven key emplyees from one of Laurentian branches. There are two ways to look at this. One is  that Laurentian is vulnerable to raids from its competitors. The other is that Laurentian has something that its competitors find worthwhile. Now that Laurentian's emplyees are no longer represented by a union, LB is a conceivable target of a takeover. If Its competitors want what Laurention possesses, they may be tempted to make a bid for it.

What this is telling you is the people with the best inside knowledge of Laurentian want out. They see far better opportunity elsewhere, The does not bode well for Laurentian's future health when you are losing some of your best talent. I do not see another Bank buying Laurentian, maybe the assets and deposits along with their top staff, but unless a new bank wants to start up in Canada, none ...more

It's one thing to move to what you think is a better opportunity. It's quite another if you take proprietary information with you to a job at the competition.
