OT: Those who bray in public.

I would like Rep Jordan to explain why it is that Christians must attend church for them to “practice their faith”.    You don’t go to church to practice your faith, you go to church to renew and celebrate your faith.

You practice your faith every day of the week, wherever you are.  Something a hypocrite like Rep. Jordan never has done.

I appreciate a lot of the info you expose to us regarding NCU but let's stay away from topics like this please. I don't look at stock information to see religious commentary. Ty

Let me say this as kindly as I can.  I do not know in advance how you or any other reader will react to any thought that I post.  You have expressed a preference, which is your right, but trust not everyone in the world happens to agree with your view of what is pertinent and what is not.  A message board is not like your own personal cable TV remote.  You can’t select the ...more

So, while I don't think that discussion of religion, and the practising of one's beliefs are partucularily appropriate for this forum, Was the forth word in the subject line a typo, or you are saying that Jordan sounds like a donkey? If it is the latter, I whole heartedly agree with you! : P

Was the forth (sic) word in the subject line a typo, or you are saying that Jordan sounds like a donkey?   Well consider the meaning of Matthew 6:5 English Standard Version   “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their ...more

Considering "OT: Those who bray in public." The Cambridge English Dictionary: bray - to make the loud noise typical of a donkey

"The Cambridge English Dictionary: bray - to make the loud noise typical of a donkey " That's right, precisely.  Loud, obnoxious, uncouth, and stupid!   Maybe, that's unkind of an donkey, but it is appropriate for the jackass I saw on TV today. b.

At the risk of sounding 2 logical. Would it make sense that if no evidence could be presented for your religious bias that u would b silly promoting. Of course one would have 2 consider the evidence presented without bias themselves. The evidence presented might quickly dismiss the validity of the religion. After all, there r only several thousand different religions vying for followers. One ...more

I sleep well at night with the idea we are star dust evolved. I find that more fascinating than literal story telling. I dont adhere to any religious beliefs as they are just archaic stories from a time when people had a hundredth of a fraction of the knowledge we have today. Story tellers of the past. In 75+ years we will move forward, together, as a society without the need or desire for ...more

Interesting post afro. If I may be so bold. My understanding is that a religion adheres to the decrees of a supposed god. That is just my understanding. I am o.k. with that. It even makes sense if the god is there. My confusion with your comments is that you say they r correct. But u give no evidence to back your statements up. Please do not take offense. You kind of make yourself god by saying ...more

I take no offense. I'm nihilistic. People can practice what they want so long as they don't interfere with others. Sadly that's not the case with current day religions. That being said. There is more evidence of us being birthed from stars than a supreme being. That's what matters for me. As a morally sound and good person, If I die and end up in front of the gates of heaven and am ...more

Did you ever consider the possibility that the after-life is just what you expected?  And if you don’t believe in an after-life that is exactly what you get?   Now I don’t know any better than anyone else, but since we obviously have a choice (if we wish it) I’ll go with the ancient Celtic faith that believed we pay for our sins here in this life, and then everyone goes on to Paradise ...more

Thanks for not taking any offense Afro. And explaining a bit about your beliefs. U seam pretty certain we originated from stars and that we cease existance in the entire universe when we die. I would b interested in the evidence u have evaluated to draw those conclusions. For the most part science agrees on the physical universe having an age of a few billion years. They agree that it had a ...more

Ha ha. I was just reading the details of that creation acount in that 3500 year old book. It turns out the 1rst man and woman became the 1rst two nihilistics. Funny world:)) nf

Yup. My spalling is different 4 sure. I had spalling lessons but saw what was being done with short hand. 2day we have acronyms. Made and used all over the world by all kinds if entities. The time 4 u 2 b concerned is when u no longer can understand the thought. Lanquage and printed word can b about snobbery. However communication and brevity to comunicate r most important 2 me. “I dont (sic) adhere to any religious beliefs as they are just archaic stories from a time when people had a hundredth of a fraction of the knowledge we have today.”   I know of no evidence that individuals today know more than others in the past.  Collectively as a society our knowledge base is larger.  We know different things today and we have learned that somethings we believed ...more
