RE:I amCanada already had the blessing of government who declared marijuana and hemp legal to grow, value add and sell to consumers for both medical use and adult rec use.
It seems to me that Canadian politicians have squandered any first strike advantage and given that we are wide open to competition have allowed everybody and their dog to grow pot.
Very few are making a profit so now the exodus to what is hoped to be greener pastures.
More consumers in the US and about half the States legal for adult rec use or pharma use.
Plus, a few visionaries that invested and are doing ok, are making money in the US with the hope of the marketplace getting bigger as more States open the door to a new vice.
American politics are used to rewarding for political contributions and have much better lobbyists and a bigger labour/management pool to choose from.
Sadly, they have a two party system that is in array, so getting anything done by way of giving access to a whole new vice is difficult and prone to delays.
The US is screaming for a couple of more political parties for the purpose of getting rid of the logjams that are of their own creation.
The serious potpreneurs know that US politics will get there eventually but have more chance of making profits on US soil by navigating where legal and what is legal to bring cannabis and hemp to the people.
There is still a lot of upside for pot companies intent on doing business in the US because they still have a fuzzy banking sytem that entails brokerages and public listings. When the politicos get it sorted out by derisking the penalties that are currently on the Fed books and level the playing field such that marijuana businesses have the same level playing field as every other US business, with banking, brokering, stock listings, public and private company fund investing, the pot business will do just fine at minimum and do multiples if the politicians do it right and come up some legislation that deals with all of the ridiculous and unfair restrictions they have on marijuana and hemp.

Companies like Canopy and Tilray are locked and loaded with the US in the crosshairs and with fair treatment will be formidable competition and leaders on the US scene.
The US has recently made a huge move that went almost un-noticed when they opened up for medicinal marijuana and hemp access for the purpose of studying which means that they see the possibilities of medical marijuana, and finally, opened the door with some new legislation such that interested parties can now experiment and document healthful results from cannabinoid plants.
Pharma use has been what has kept the pot business in play to get it to this stage and it will take some serious legislation to remove all of the barriers from US pot thriving, but with a little bit of work to put together a stand alone bill that specifically deals with all of the better points from the good pot bills that have been presented but not signed off on, we could have another greenrush 10X Canada's.
Canopy announced their intentions and have put a lot of money towards, not just Canopy but half a dozen other suitable US, like minded companies that will come together one way or the other to be leadership contenders of the world.
Greenrush or one State at a time, it is coming!
