RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:bear call

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:bear callThat's not actually correct, but since you enjoy this stuff, I'll explain why it's not corrrect.  Let's take the north pole for example.  If you are standing anywhere north of the Arctic Circle during the summer solstice then the Sun remains above the horizon the entire time due to the northern hemisphere's tilt towards the Sun.  The Sun remains shining all day and night (i.e. there is no night), The Sun does not rise or set at that time of year, however the Sun is still moving from east to west across the horizon.  Hence the North is known as the land of the midnight sun during this time of the year.

During the winter solstice the Sun remains below the horizon if you are anywhere north of the Arctic Circle and so you will not see the Sun rise or set.  It remains completely dark.  Again, the Sun is still moving from east to west and can be seen rising in the east and setting in the west in other places on the Earth even though you won't see it.  However, you would still see the stars and moon move across the horizon.

At the north pole the Equinox will be when the Sun is seen rising for the first time that year above the horizon or setting for the last time that year below the horizon.  So for example come September 21, 2022, the sun will set for the last time on the horizon for the year at the north pole casting it into darkness and on March 21, 2023 the sun will be seen rising for the first time that year above the horizon.  There will be a twilight period for about 2 weeks before and after an equinox, So it's not completely dark in that 2 week period when the sun disappears for the last time on September 21 below the horizon during the equinox.

Yes, it is fascinating stuff, but it is also amazing how little people know about the planet they live on and I don't mean all the stuff I just talked about, but very basic things like the Earth moves around the sun.

At certain times of the year, according to one observer: "If you stand at the South Pole, you see the sun set in the North. If you stand at the North Pole, you see the sun set in the South."
