Closing playgrounds

I know more covid cases means more testing for us which directly translates into more revenue but I can't wait for this pandemic to be over and as a mum of a 2 year old I'm absolutely infuriated by closing playgrounds. This is what I think of it: (taken from National Post article, link below):
Ford: "The reality is there are few options left.”
First of all, that makes no sense. Ford hasn’t tried shaving his head, wearing his shoes on the wrong feet or singing 9 to 5 to open every press conference to fight the pandemic either. Those “options” make roughly as much sense as closing playgrounds.

Agreed, however this is not going away anytime soon. Many Scientific experts have indicated that we are no longer in a pandemic but an epidemic. So we will continue to suffer from this or a variant of for years to come unfortunately. How serious it will be who knows ,common flu or worse is the question that currently does not have an answer. We may get a better Handle on thinks after vaccine ...more

Testing is here to stay for years if not forever. Everyone will want to know they are safe to work, visit and travel. Every,  sorting, shipping, seving, clerking, processing etc: company will test their staff continually to save their bottomline and make the staff feel secure. The Royals seemed to understand the weight of this Epedemic. Everyone was tested and everyone had masks on and ...more

@Oden, I totally agree, I get it that this is our new reality and I'm far from being anti-Covid person. I do my part to keep my family and everyone around me safe and I have too many friends working in hospitals to question the severity of the situation, but closing playgrounds and arbitrarily stopping cars and people walking to ask what you're doing outside with the threat of being fined  ...more

I moved from a country where the police can stop you anytime for whatever reasons. Got beaten up a few times by them and chased by soldiers with sub-machine guns....so if you ask me if I distrust authorities that try to impose their will on the population....then you are correct. Don't like this creeping police state that's being gradually being imposed on the population....yes, take ...more

Turns out no police service is going to enforce it anyways....that decision was a no brainer Tam has to go, doing a terrible job, she has Canadians so locked up our immune defense is useless.... Canada will be the last to come out of covid. USA holding in there with 86,000 cases being the peak since February 1 and this with tons of restrictions being lifted.... should know by mid June if the US ...more

And on a "new cases per million" basis Canada just passed the U.S. to be one of the world leaders. Do you think we are doing something wrong?? We have been at it for over a year and we still can't figure out what the problem is? So much for being a developed, smart nation. How many stats have they been keeping over this past year? Like how many of each age group, how many of each ...more

My best friend lives in Austin, Texas, she's in her mid 30s and she's already been vaccinated (2 shots). She says they are now vaccinating teenagers and basically anyone who wants to get a shot. I'm originally from Poland, apparently if they have left-over vaccines from missed appointments they ask random people in the streets if they want a shot. Sorry about venting, I know it's ...more
