Brownie...isn't K&S a solution mine....is GSP Western technique different???

K&S and Mosaic Belle Plaine are standard insitu solution mines that incorporate settling ponds and evaporaters to separate KCL and salt at the surface. GSP's process would just bring KCL to the surface and the salt would stay below in the cavern. Cavern/solution temperature and hole position in the cavern very critical as well as figuring out separation duty cycles as selective solution ...more

sw248,  yes the K+S Bethune mine, and Mosaic Belle Plaine mine are solution mines in Saskatchewan however they do not horizontally target thin seams of Sylvinite. Instead they bring everything in the brine solution to the surface and process all the impurities out of the brine which costs substantially more to do.  As mentioned before.....Take a strawberry shortcake and and try to run a ...more
