Casey Said Sell

Doug Casey patted himself on the back for the March, 2003 original recommendation at $1.00, and now says sell unless you are simply want to own Goldcorp and the new Virginia. There's a chance that a Newmont could come in at a higher price but it is such a low probablility that it is not worth sticking the wait. New money is chasing the shares after the announcement so it's a good opportunity to take profit and refocus. I sold yesterday morning at 10.50.

Let me guess. Now you want to buy back in lower? PIB

No, I rolled the proceeds into other opportunities yet to announce discoveries or takeovers. Isn't that the game with juniors? I regret not getting more for Virginia but the big upside is gone for now as far as I'm concerned.

We truly appreciate your help with this. :-^)

pretty good "back of the envelope" analysis. Thanks. I would just add that "New Virgina" should have about 25 million shares out when it finally gets going. That implies a cash break up of about $1.24 - certainly within the 'ball park' of your $1.396 floor price. And this figure assigns a ZERO value to all the NV's propective properties. Given the data of 200 ...more

There is no useful forum when the contributors all choose to receive and not give. But your comment is a cold reminder of the selfish nature of too much of humantity.

And, posting "Casey Said Sell" fits into your strategy how?

This might seem like some obvious arithmetic but, the 'New Virginia' component of the current 'VIA' price is going for a pretty nice price. (prices from my last glance at the market depth chart) G @ 23.28 * 0.4 = 9.312 (Goldcorp component of VIA price) VIA @ 10.01 * 0.5 = 1/2 share of 'New Virginia' 10.01 - 9.312 = 0.698 = current market valuation of 1/2 share of  ...more

I have gain a great deal of information and benefit from information shared generously by others on these boards. I shared what Casey did and what I did after considering the available information. If you want to engage in combat go to the Yahoo boards.

Excellent post, bench, was about to post something just like that. NewCo value of $1.23 per NR is mostly cash I would think. Two things occur to me. 1) Small investors are taking their gains and running, and not getting the full price as you point out. VIA should be trading around $10.50. I can wait for full value. 2) While I wait, VIA price is tied directly to GG, thus if gold continues ...more

I am all for sharing information,....that is until I have paid for it and others are telling the whole world about it for free. Am I the only one that seems to think this should not be done? If you want to have information from any of the so-called analyst, do what most of us do, PAY FOR IT!! And the rest of you wanting to share with the world, think about it first. I am sure there could be legal ...more

There are certainly legalities involved in posting copyrighted subscriber only type information and I don't think that should be done. But to paraphrase and give credit to the source is not reckless behavior, in my opinion, and I seek to benefit from others doing the same. We all seek valuable information on these companies and what other value could these forums offer if we didn't ...more

Casey's rec was not an outright SELL. He gave some valid reasons for continuing to own the stock, which included the possibility of another bid for the company ( he did not say that the possibility of a higher bid was a 'low probability' - nice try). He did say that there exist opportunities with better leverage than owning Goldcorp stock, and that he was gradually closing out his ...more

Here's exactly what he said, dated 12/05/2005. It's regretful that these boards want to attack anyone who does anything other than feed the mania. I won't post again or offer to share any thoughts unless it's verbatim from the source. Comments: SELL, BUT NO RUSH— This is great news—exactly what we’ve been waiting for—and the market has responded with a 24% increase in VIA ...more

With all due respect, I think the point should be,..the ones of us who pay for the services do so to have a slight advantage in learning of these plays before the masses, and to benefit with that information. When you divulge that information you are really limiting your own potential to prosper, not to mention the rest of us that have similiarly payed for that information. Whether you paraphrase ...more
