RE:RE:nuclear energy in Japan
RE:RE:nuclear energy in JapanJapans decision to keep NPPs going is a short term design strictly to control rising costs & reduce supply strains they are experiencing. Japan is looking into deregulation, and forming partnerships with Scotland for their renewable expertise. They will be developing a testing site in Nagasaki for renewable marine energy R&D and figure that it will be entertaining customers at the site by 2022. Their government is pledging over $200 bln to aid in the transition to new energy forms. They have also publicly said that they can see offshore renewables replace much of the NPPs. About 25% of Japans total energy requirements. They really strive for energy security, and again feel off-shore renewables provides the answer. I think we will see tidal technology explode with Scotland and Japan working together. Kudos to the US, Indian Point nuclear energy plant wont be relicensed as current NG facilities will have efficiency upgrades and renewables will be added. This is touted to Japan for change. Unfortunately Alterra hasnt yet dove into offshore renewables.
