The Juniors

I don't think competition between the juniors or the major miners exists nor can I see a good reason for it.  Dan, with the juniors you like to parade out it is possible that one or all may be successful.  Considering how long it has taken Gensource to be where they are, it is on that basis that the juniors may have to travel the same long hard road or maybe not.  Potash seems to be in demand worldwide.  If the juniors can find the markets and the cash, I'm all for it.  I am very much pro Saskatchewan and if any one of them are successful that will lead to employment and add to our tax and royalty base that can make a difference, it would be welcoming.  It would be foolish not to cheer the potash juniors on.  If anyone had the wrong impression of my earlier comments on this subject,  I want to fill in the blanks and make my thoughts absolutely clear for the readership.  The only worry I have is, how long will it take for the juniors to become household names.

Be careful Black, not to downplay what we are doing in selective mining. If we are right,we are looking at, as litttle as,1/10 the capital of convnetional and 1/2 the operating cost, with minimal carbon, minimal water use, and no tailings. We now know how to do it and will continue learning. An agressive junior could become a major in less time than the years required to build a single ...more

black, figuring out this evironmentally friendly cavern tech will be a major win for not only Saskatchewan and its residents, but also on a global scale as there are many 3rd world communities sitting on thin, shallow, high grade deposits that could benefit greatly from producing their own affordable potash without damaging their eco-surroundings. That is my hope, but the biggest hurdle will be ...more

MJB.....have you heard or read anything on Helm's involvement in the play??...was a lot of hype on that but sure has subsided in the past 6 months....and what about that London Listing that was going to possibly facilitate some type of major International financing...that appears to be a waste of time and money...what are you guessing the new sagas will be...why can't something finally ...more

sw248 as Gensource reported previously, Helm pulled their $50 million equity portion, if I recall shortly after the KfW IPEX Bank and Societe Generale $280 million debt financing terminated. Not that unusual as equity financing generally tends to be associated with debt financing to some degree in any big project.     Strictly my guess sw248, but with rumored issues at the ...more

Your welcome sw248 It is really a tough environment out there to raise capital right now for juniors. It took a bit of digging, but I wanted to confirm my recollection of the KfW - Ipex Debt Financing was accurate. There is very little public info regarding that conditional committment letter expiration available unless you dig through financials. As of this writing, the binding conditional ...more
