Strang's "... more or less big enough now ..." doesn't cut it. If  a viable mining operation could be placed on Lumina's current claims he would be right. But the fact is that the a viable mining operation cannot be built on the current claims. Either Strang knows it and he's pretending that the problem does not exist, as he should, it or he doesn't know which is ...more

Thanks for the link. I woud have been interested in a question regards the investor taking down the PP. Somehow, we have to search this out...................it could be critical in investment decisions.

Midas, I wish you all the best with your exploration play next door, but I don't understand your comments. Why exactly is it that LCC has to JV with Salta in order to sell? Please elaborate.
Comment by MidasTouchez on Oct 16, 2012 6:50pm
Whoever buys Lumina Copper cannot build a viable mining operation there unless there is a JV with Salta. Why? Because of gravity. If you can't visit the site then take a look at photographs of where Lumina is located and where Salta is located. Anyone who buys Lumina's claims will need the right to build at least part of those mining operations on Salta's land. That can only be ...more

Well Midas, the problem some may sense with your reasoning is the unproven information that you present. Maybe you're right with your JV-story. But simply insinuating an amateurish or ignorant business attitude to the Lumina Board is a weak point for a discussion. Lumina seems to have acquired several claims this year and I would be surprised, if you are aware of the entire property situation. ...more

You are failing in your due diligence. Lumina Copper can only mine one third of its claims because the other two-thirds are environmentally protected. There is more than one reason why the mining operations cannot go in to the south-east corner. They can't do anything there because that land is environmentally protected (salars). They can't even place tailings there. In fact, as far as I ...more

Can claim holders really block tailings and trucks? An exploration claim is not full ownership of the land. If a mining company applied for permission to build a mine including a tailings dam, would the government (national or provincial) then really ask Salta and Cascadero for permission? I don't know the legal issues here, but how can you be so sure about all of this. Hypothetically, let us ...more

Can majority claim holders block tailings? Yes. The government has sold those claim holders the right to explore. They can't explore if someone dumps tailings on that land. Can majority claim holders block trucks? I have not suggested that as an obstacle. The difficulty for the trucks is gravity (9.81 metres per second squared). "... but how can you be so sure about all of this." ...more

Midas, no offence, but what you say doesn't make any sense. I suggest that you start your own due diligence by reading the June 21, 2012 NI 43-101 Report. It contradicts everything you say. Now maybe you are smarter than Ross Beaty and the geologists who prepared the report, but I doubt it. As I said, best of luck with your investment in that other company, but don't expect LCC to come ...more

The question is how strong an exploratio nlicense is. It is not land ownership, and I don't believe Cascdero would be allowed to block a mine. They might get a small compensation for having a part of their claim revoked.   It has nothing to do with dictatiorships. Even in a democracy, an exploration license is not really land ownership. And even land ownership can be revoked by the ...more

@ Midas Actually so far I enjoyed in a good sense the speculation climate here, with everybody giving hints, collecting information and so on. But it is strange to hear sb teaching in your way "again not done your DD" and bashing around.. Gee nice if you can contribute something thoughtful. But what about gravity ? Yes 9.81 m/s^2 is correct. Why so provocative? Whats up tumbles down ...more

You are right about one thing. I do not expect LCC to come looking for a JV because I already know that the JV has been negotiated and it's just waiting to be announced.
Comment by MidasTouchez on Oct 17, 2012 8:07pm
krogh, I have told you what I know as facts. I am not speculating. Who even suggested that Salta/Cascadero would block Lumina? I haven't. Why would they do that? Is it in their interests to do that? It most certainly is not. Particularly since they have already negotiated the JV. Meanwhile, you are suggesting something that would not be out of place in a Stephen Segal movie. Lumina is not ...more

longchris, Lumina acknowledges on its own website about the environmentally protected salar. Obviously, there is a lot of stuff to read on that website and it takes time to read it all. So anybody who has not taken the trouble to at least read some of it will not know that. I don't know the history of when the salar was protected. So I can't answer your salar questions. If I attempt to ...more

You are speculating, when you say that Taca Tacas could never become a mine without a JV with  Salta. That is not to say, that there will not be a JV. If they can prove up a beter deposit by combining the clams, then why not do it.   There is nothng outrageous about dumping tailings on a neighboring claim. At that point it will not be Salta's. They wil either be bought out, or have ...more

You are putting words in to my mouth again. Taca Taca is a large region. Many mines will be built there. Unfortunately, no mine can ever be built on Lumina's current claims without a JV with Salta. Are you really suggesting that tailings be transported uphill (and that isn't as easy as you think it is in this particular case) to an adjacent claim. It will never happen. Besides, Salta has ...more

You are claiming lots of disagreement. I agree with most you say, except the last part. Of course, a mine could be built without Salta's cooperation. But if a JV is being negotiated then all is fine. And yes, if there was a mine at Salta's claims, the tailings dam could be placed on Lumina's claims. Copper mines are giant projects. Thousands of workers will be relocated, private ...more
